BIAS (Business Intelligence and Analytic Server)
BIAS (Business Intelligence and Analytic Server) is the culmination of many years of working experience in the business and technology sectors.
Traditionally, BI products have been complex, expensive and requiring highly skilled professionals in order to use them effectively. This started to change in the last 5+ years. Prices are coming down much to the credit of some excellent Open Source BI projects. Also, with the advent of Web 2.0, BI is becoming much more visual in its presentation.
While BI vendors are enjoying their best sales growth years ever and the marketplace is experiencing a consolidation of vendors, there is still much room for improvement.
The traditional BI paradigm has been based on domain experts having precognitive knowledge of the data they are analyzing. The quality of the analysis is highly dependent upon the domain specialist's assumptions and algorithms used.
While we appreciate the traditional methodology, we go much further by using a new BI paradigm that uses what we call "Smart Data." With the advent of metadata (data that describes data), we use this "Smart Data" in a Bayesian network that models the sequence of this data into visual graphs that allows for the the visual exploration (drill down and drill around) of the data to help identify visual patterns that cannot be obtained using traditional methods. This BI methodology lends itself to a "self-learning" process where uncertainty cripples tradtional BI methods.
